flu, part 2

You know that coughing, chills, sweaty, porcelain worshipping kind of night you get when you have the flu?  Yep.  that one…

We’re in the 21st century.  Forget flying cars.  I want a cure for the flu!

I hate the flu..

Today, I’m coughing, phlegm-y, fever-y, and generally miserable.   Let there be Matzoh Ball soup.

Dearth of updates

So, it’s been a while since my last post. I’ve been up to a bit…

Moved into new apartment end of Sept
Building my own furniture

I’ve been a busy bee the last month or so

Sorry for the lack of updates.  I’ve been very, very busy with the company I’ve been working with… and literally have lacked the energy to put together a regular daily update.   There’s a lot to fill in too.   This last weekend I spent at Burning Flipside http://www.burningflipside.com which is a regional version of the Burning Man event.  It was an absolute blast and I met a lot of cool people.

If you are finding this page after having met me, you have indeed landed on the page of Dr. Volts.   You can email me at martinbogo@gmail.com and I’ll get back to you.

In the meantime .. back to work, and I’ll update the page with some pictures and updates about attending Burning Flipside, my new Segway Project, hacking the G1 phone, life in Austin, and a bunch of other geeky goodness.

(Was -private- .. but I changed my mind) Weight and Exercise

  • Weight:  238 pounds
  • Target:   175 pounds
  • 63 pounds to go

I’ve been exercising and dieting for three weeks now .. W T F .. I’m not supposed to weigh more!   AAAAAAAA!   Not only that, I’ve cut out all the caffeinated drinks, am drinking more water, and bloody well did an hour on the treadmill at 3.4 miles per hour yesterday.

This is so farging not fair.  I’m sticking with it, but the result is so frigging counter-intuitive.

Insomnia, you SUCK

I’ve been up for about 44 hours now.   I’m going to take a long walk around the block and see if tiring out my body will result in getting sleepy enough to get rest.    Happens every spring and fall, go figure.

(was -private-) “sleepless nights”

Spring insomnia has me in it’s grip.   I’ve been awake for 35 hours now, which is not good.   I think this might be a side effect of the new diet and exercise regimen, but I’m not sure.    I also had a great talk about philosophy with a woman at the gym today in the sauna, and it’s got my mind spinning a bit.

  • Weight: 232
  • Target: 175
  • 58 pounds to go

The Gym, The Gym, The Gym is on fire…

The gym is on fire,  watch as those calories burn.  Burn.  Burn.

It’s been a cold, and rainy day here in Austin.  Temperatures never rose above 45F today, and the night is wet and rainy and cold.   So, the gym was a nice warm haven from the cold, and a good idea.

Day two of the gym was today.   Same deal as before, but one new exercise added.  I did half an hour on the treadmill, doing cardio training instead so it varied from slow to fast, and I still managed to do nearly two miles on it for a 15 minute mile average.  (fastest lap was a 12 minute mile)  After that, I got on the stair master … escalator from hell!   It didn’t kick my ass, but practicaly every other muscle down from them is definitely going to feel it tomorrow.

Finally, I did some good old fashioned weight training.  Nothing huge, just 3 20-rep arm exercises with a 10lb weight, and then the same weight for some side exercises.

I think I did a pretty good workout overall, for just the beginning.   I’m going to celebrate with a little Weight Watchers pizza, and then call it a night.
